  • This initial stage is designed to ensure students are thoroughly prepared and organized, setting a solid groundwork for the more intensive phases of the Bootcamp program.

  • College List Assessment and Refinement: Evaluate and balance the college list for selectivity. Students should arrive with a preliminary list of 6-8 colleges of interest.

    Align schools with student interests, preferences, and budget considerations.

    Organizational Setup:

    Strategize for obtaining teacher recommendations.

    Systematize folders and documents for the application journey.

    Learn to effectively use high school college management tools like Naviance.


    Essay Development Strategy:

    Initiate brainstorming and outlining for college essays.

    Establish a timeline for evolving essays from concepts to polished submissions.

    Academic and Extracurricular Strategy for Senior Year:

    Discuss and finalize senior-year course selections.

    Outline a plan for senior year extracurricular activities.

    Setting Expectations and Deadlines:

    Outline the overall application timeline and key submission dates.

    Set clear objectives for the coming months.

    Student Inquiry and Guidance:

    Address student questions about the college application process.

    Provide tailored advice and insights for each student's unique situation.

    Standardized Test Strategy:

    Develop a customized plan for standardized testing, including which tests to take and when.

    Discuss preparation methods and resources.

    Application Strategy:

    Determine which applications the student will need to complete, including the Common App, Coalition App, and/or specific public college applications.

  • This phase is dedicated to intensive writing and preparation, ensuring students have well-crafted essays and a robust profile to present to colleges. It's a focused effort to make significant progress in a short time, setting students up for success in the final stages of their college application journey.

  • Personal Statement and University Essays:

    Transform a blank page into strong drafts for the Common Application personal statement and/or University of California essays.

    Focus on developing a compelling narrative that reflects the student's unique journey and aspirations.

    Supplemental Essays:

    Tackle individual college-specific supplemental essays.

    Tailor responses to align with each college's unique prompts and values.

    Student Profile Sheet for Recommenders:

    Craft a comprehensive student profile sheet.

    This sheet will assist teacher recommenders in writing personalized and impactful letters of reference.

    Activity List and Resume Development:

    Compile and refine a detailed activity list for college applications.

    Create a professional resume that highlights the student's achievements and experiences.

  • This stage is strategically scheduled after August 1st, when college applications officially open. Building on the foundational work completed in earlier stages, students will now focus on finalizing and submitting their applications. This intensive week-long session is designed to ensure students leave with a complete set of college applications, ready for submission.

  • Complete All Relevant Applications:

    Finalize and review applications for the Common App, Coalition App, and specific public college applications.

    Ensure all sections of each application are thoroughly and accurately completed.

    Formal Request for Letters of Recommendation:

    Guide students in formally requesting letters of recommendation.

    Assist with coordinating counselor uploads and recommendations through school portals like Naviance or other platforms.

    Finalize Essay Drafts:

    Continue the essay writing process, focusing on refining and finalizing drafts.

    Work on all essays, including personal statements and supplemental essays for individual colleges.

    Comprehensive Application Review:

    Conduct a thorough review of each application to ensure completeness and accuracy.

    Provide feedback and final edits to essays, ensuring they are compelling and polished.

    Leave with Completed Applications:

    Aim for students to conclude this session with all their college applications completed and ready for submission.

    Ensure students feel confident and prepared for the next steps in their college application journey.

  • Comprehensive Application Review

    Stage four is the culmination of the Boot Camp program, where students prepare for the final submission of their college applications. This stage is strategically timed to precede the application deadlines, allowing students to make any last-minute adjustments and ensure their applications are polished and complete.

  • Conduct a thorough review of all applications, including the Common Application, Coalition Application, and applications for public colleges that do not use the Common App.

    Ensure that every section of each application is complete, accurate, and presents the student in the best possible light.

    Next Steps for Submission:

    Guide students through the final steps leading up to submission.

    Discuss and plan for any remaining requirements or supplementary materials that need to be completed.

    Review submission deadlines and create a timeline to ensure all applications are submitted on time.

    Address any last-minute questions or concerns, providing clarity and reassurance.

  • Scheduled at least one week before application submission, ideally 2-3 weeks prior.

    Recommended timing:
    Early November for early admission applications and early December for traditional admission deadlines.
